Nier is definitely a love it or hate it game, so you'll have to forgive us for loving it. The gameplay is only okay, the world is too small, and the repetitive mission designs turn it into a bit of a grind, but in spite of all of that Nier is the game that stuck with us the most all year. Nier has an amazingly good story, great characters brought to life with excellent voice acting and well written dialogue, and by far the best soundtrack of any game this year. And you know what? Even with our complaints about the game, we still played through Nier multiple times. It isn't for everyone, but if you do try it, and you do "get" it, you'll find one of the most memorable and stunning game experiences of 2010.
