God of War III Ultimate Ed.

God of War III Ultimate Edition: Pandora's Box

God of War III Ultimate Edition Collector's Edition Box Contents - Pandora's Box

© Roger AltizerSo, it's a good idea not to throw away those instructions after all. Opening Pandora's box isn't as intuitive as one may think.

The God of War III Ultimate Edition Pandora's Box is actually a nice piece of video game swag. While I doubt you'd give it to your daughter to use as an evil hope chest, it does hold controllers, games, or peripherals quite nicely. Much more useful than some of the other ridiculous video game collector's edition bonus items out there (Halo 3 Cat helmet, I'm looking at you!).

Ultimate Spider-Man

This is a first. All you need to read of this review is, "Wow", and "5 stars" as that pretty much sums it up. I love everything about this game. I am shocked, and almost saddened by how good Ultimate Spider-Man is. All the superhero games I thought were showing promise now pale in comparison. Heroes and villains alike will fall down at the feet of Ultimate Spider-Man.Yes, I loved The Hulk: Ultimate Destruction, but I am very glad I reviewed it before Ultimate Spider-Man, as the Hulk is going to be green with envy when he finds out how deeply I've been caught in Spider-Man's web.

Let's start with the visuals. The new comic-inking technology is stunning. I would love to see an afternoon cartoon made with it. But it's not just the tech, the art direction, the living comic pages, Ultimate Spider-Man delivers the type of visuals we expected from the next-generation systems now.

Spidey controls amazingly well. Web swinging is far more challenging now, as Spider-Man must actually have something to swing from. The way Spidey moves... is superb. The flips, tricks, and movement is so slick, it's almost distracting. Venom moves completely differently, but every bit as cool.

The story is ripped straight out of the Ultimate Spider-Man comic books. The retelling of Spidey and Venom's origins are not only intriguing, but set the stage for some awesome gameplay. Aside from the silly racing levels, all of the missions and goals actually help build the story and feel very Spider-Man.

At the end of the web we find an amazing superhero game. I've been impressed with the recent Spider-Man games, but this one goes above and beyond. In a perfect world Treyarch/Activision would make all superhero games, heck they may even be able to rescue the dismal Batman series... maybe.

Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm

NAMCO BANDAI Games America Inc., has announced in a press release free downloadable content for NARUTO: Ultimate Ninja STORM. The Naruto game is PS3 exclusive based on the anime from VIZ. Starting from the week of the game’s retail launch on November 4, 2008 through March 2009, brand new support characters, including the "Sound Four," and new single player missions will be made available for download regularly on the PS3.

The following NARUTO: Ultimate Ninja STORM characters, each accompanied by a unique single-player mission, will be available for free download from the PlayStation Network on the PS3. November 6, 2008: Shizune December 4, 2008: Asuma December 18, 2008: Kurenai January 8, 2009: Anko January 22, 2009: Jirobo February 5, 2009: Kidoumaru February 19 2009: Tayuya March 5, 2009: Sakon This is an ambitious DLC schedule, and, to be frank, quite extensive for free content. Fans should be thrilled as licensed games rarely get free DLC.

"With the huge cast of characters and massively detailed storyline offered by the NARUTO franchise, NARUTO: Ultimate Ninja STORM is perfect for downloadable content, giving us the opportunity to continue to build upon the core of the game long after it is released in stores," said Todd Thorson, director of marketing and public relations at NAMCO BANDAI Games America, Inc. in a press release. "Packed with fan-favorite characters and fun new single player missions, this content will always be free and will further add to the depth and scope of this already impressive title."

Taking the next step in the Ultimate Ninja series, NARUTO: Ultimate Ninja STORM features full 3D combat. Naruto and the other ninjas will fight over huge environments. All-new is a free-roaming gameplay mode that takes place in Naruto’s Hidden Leaf Village.

With an original next-generation graphics engine, NARUTO: Ultimate Ninja STORM has fluid animation and high-definition visual detail that allow gamers to experience Naruto in a way just not possible on the PS2. It's a good looking game, and with the free DLC, an incredible value.

Capcom Announces Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 News

The undisputed grand master of fighting games, Capcom has announced an Ultimate edition of Marvel vs. Capcom 3 following the original game's launch on Xbox 360 and PS3 in February of this year.
As is the Capcom style with its enhanced reissues (see Super Street Fighter IV), Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 will be released as a boxed copy at retail this November for a mid-range price (SSFIV originally retailed at £29.99) but will bring 12 new characters, an improved fighting system, new modes, and 8 new stages with it for good measure.
In the press release, Capcom only announced 4 of the 12 new characters, although the sleuths over at Joystiq have since uncovered all 12 of them (which you can see below). The additional characters will now bring the full roster to 50 fighters.
It would seem that Capcom has also been listening intently to fan demands with the addition of a Spectator Mode that allows users to view online multiplayer fights together.
