EA Sports has announced a September 30th release date for FIFA 12 in Europe (September 27th in the US), as well as the release of a PC version alongside the previously confirmed Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, PSP and 3DS platforms.
While FIFA 11 on PC was the first version to be developed using a current-gen console build (it was effectively FIFA 10 with updated team info), FIFA 12 on PC will have an identical feature set and build to this year's Xbox 360 and PS3 versions.
This means that all of the key features that have been announced for Xbox 360 and PS3 so far - such as the Player Impact Engine, Precision Dribbling, Tactical Defending, and Pro player Intelligence - will also make it into the PC game (click through here for more details on these features).
"This is the moment all PC gamers have been waiting for, as they are finally going to fully experience the award-winning FIFA gameplay on their preferred platform," said Kaz Makita, Executive Producer of FIFA 12. "PC fans are going to enjoy the highest quality gameplay, deepest game modes and truest graphics ever developed for the platform, including our new live service EA Sports Football Club."
In a footnote to the press release that's news to us, EA released a couple of titbits about this year's Career Mode that include, "an all-new Career Mode driven by the storylines from the real-world sport", and, "an authentic match day experience".
We'll be sure to quiz EA on this at our next scheduled hands-on preview event. In the meantime, take a closer look at the first FIFA 12 PC screen shown above-right.
