Activision Publishing CEO, Eric Hirshberg has confirmed that the Call of Duty action/adventure title from its Sledgehammer Games outfit has been put on hold while the studio focuses on Modern Warfare 3's development alongside Infinity Ward.
"Right now Sledgehammer's 100% focused on Modern Warfare 3. We haven't announced the future slate or future plans for the studio," Hirshberg told IndustryGamers. "They were originally working on an extension of the Call of Duty franchise into an action/adventure genre and that's a game I still want to play. That's a supreme, incredible group doing that. All I can say is right now they're 100% focused on Modern Warfare 3."
Although never formally announced, Sledgehammer's original Call of Duty game has been vaguely referred to as an action/adventure title by Activision on numerous occasions, with rumours pointing towards a sci-fi setting for the game.
